I bought 670144 in 1968 from well-known XK dealer Peter Butt, and in the early 1970s competed with it in historic racing in the UK. This included an attempt to finish last in the very last race at the Crystal Palace circuit in London in 1972, but I managed only second to last... Otherwise it did win its class on several occasions, against mediocre opposition I freely admit. I acquired a D-type head and cams from David Cottingham, and John Harper later drove LXK 48 for half a season in Thoroughbred sportscar racing. I sold 670144 to Peter Fowler in the UK in 1985 following our move to Hornchurch, Essex and I believe Peter still has it. Terry McGrath has researched some of its early history, although after it returned from Germany where it was sold new in March 1950, there is a gap of a number of years in the 1950s. Can anyone help?
