car on Auction at SWVA in July 2024
www.swva.co.uk/classic-car/jaguar-xk140-fhc-1955/
Description:
- Very original and honest example of XK140
- One of just 839 FHC’s made in RHD
- Registration document records just 3 owners from new
- UK RHD matching numbers example
- Finished in desirable ‘Racing Green’
On the Surface: This 1955 Jaguar XK140 Fixed Head Coupe (FHC) is a very original example, finished in the stunning racing green. It is one of just 839 XK140 FHCs made in right-hand drive, making it a rare find. The vehicle has had only three owners from new and has been in the vendor’s possession for nearly 10 years. This particular model represents a minimal number of XK140 FHCs currently registered for use on UK roads today.
Maintenance & History: The car comes with a comprehensive history file, including invoices, old tax discs, MOTs, magazine cutouts, the original green registration document and the heritage certificate. Invoices in the file amount to over £5,000, demonstrating a significant investment in its upkeep. The earliest MOT dates back to 1989, showcasing a long history of careful maintenance.

1955 Jaguar XK 140 Fixed Head Coupe
Estimate £20,000 - £25,000
Dore & Rees - The Autumn Classic, Castle Combe, UK
12 September, 2026
Lot 104
Property of a Gentleman
Registration Number: UDE 800
Chassis Number: 804310DN
Recorded mileage: 92,833 miles
- Offered from long term enthusiast ownership
- Highly original car retaining period documentation
- Running and driving, for light restoration
According to the accompanying documentation, Chassis 804310DN was first registered in 1955 and remains in original specification, presenting an opportunity for its next custodian to undertake a sympathetic programme of restoration at their own pace.
We understand the Jaguar has had just two former keepers, being in the present ownership for approximately 11 years, seldom used and generally dry stored. The XK comes with a substantial history file, documenting ongoing mechanical and bodywork attention over its life, including replacement sills and other previous repairs. The underside shows some surface corrosion, although the car is described as solid in the important areas.
The car has clearly continued to receive conscientious attention in recent years, and its completeness and running condition provide a sound basis for further recommissioning and cosmetic improvement. We understand it was last used on the road in 2023, driven to and displayed at a local Classic Car event.
For the enthusiast seeking an original right-hand-drive Fixed Head Coupe, this represents a particularly interesting opportunity to return a scarce example of Jaguar's post-war sporting heritage to its former glory.
