Alberta car since 1982. May have come from western States prior to that. Rust free. Non.original paint. Has the M spec options.Stored indoors from 1983. Running condition. Interir leather worn and faded.

Parked in 1983 in an unheated garage. Owner died and car sold to Hill in Dec 2022 from estate. Undergoing sympathetic refresh maintaining the patina that has occurred over the years. Low compression on cylinder 4 is the major mechanical issue. New fuel tank fitted. First Alberta owner was Canberra Land Developments in 1982. Sold on to Peter M. Dranchuk in July 1983. Current colour is cream and that looks like the original colour

Update: Head removal found exhaust valve wear so that was refurbished. New leather and carpets in red. Master cylinder for brakes new. Carbs rebuilt. Front disc brakes

This 1956 Jaguar XK140 fixed-head coupe was dispatched from the factory in March 1956 for delivery to Canadian importer Budd & Dyer in Montreal. It is said to have spent four decades in storage in an unheated garage before being acquired by the seller in 2022 and refurbished in 2023. Work is noted to have involved rebuilding the cylinder head and SU carburetors in addition to retrofitting front disc brakes, refinishing the 16″ wire wheels, performing paintless dent removal, and more as detailed below. Repainted in cream over a re-trimmed interior in red leather, the car is powered by a 3.4-liter inline-six paired with a four-speed manual transmission. It is further equipped with Lucas fog lights and a dual exhaust system as well as burl wood interior trim and adjustable seats. This XK140 is now offered at no reserve with a Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate, service records, and Alberta registration in the seller’s name.

The car left the factory finished in Birch Grey and underwent a color change to its current cream finish under previous ownership. Details include a split windshield, front vent windows, and full-width chrome bumpers with overriders. Lucas fog lights are fitted up front, though one of the bulbs is burnt out. Paintless dent removal is said to have been performed in 2023. Chrome trim is missing from the right side of the front and rear windshields.

The refinished 16″ wire wheels are secured by two-ear knock-offs and mounted with older 185-width Pirelli Cinturato tires, and a spare is stored under the trunk floor. Disc brakes were retrofitted up front and the brake master cylinders were replaced in 2023, according to the seller.

The adjustable seats are said to have been re-trimmed in red leather and are accompanied by replacement carpets. Burl wood accents the dash as well as the upper doors and window surrounds. Further appointments include a cabin heater and defroster along with a folding rear bulkhead, door storage pockets, front vent windows, and wind-up side windows. The seller notes wear on the headliner.

A four-spoke steering wheel sits ahead of Smiths instrumentation consisting of a reverse-sweep 6k-rpm tachometer with an inoperative clock as well as a 140-mph speedometer and an ammeter alongside gauges for oil pressure, water temperature, and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 98k miles, approximately 2k miles of which were added under current ownership. The tachometer and speedometer cables were replaced in 2023, and true mileage is unknown.

The 3.4-liter inline-six was found to have low compression upon the seller’s acquisition in 2022. Subsequent work is noted to have involved rebuilding the cylinder head and SU carburetors as well as cleaning the oil sump and replacing the coolant hoses.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a four-speed manual gearbox, which the seller notes is a close-ratio unit. The car is further equipped with a dual exhaust system, and replacement flex pipes are noted to have been added in 2023.

The Jaguar Heritage Trust Certificate for chassis 815431 shows factory colors and identification numbers and indicates that the car was dispatched to Budd & Dyer of Montreal, Quebec, Canada in March 1956.

A composite image of various identification markings around the car is shown above. The chassis number 815431 stamped on the chassis plate is prepended by an “A.”

The vehicle is being sold on its Alberta registration, which serves as an ownership document in Alberta, Canada. The registration lists the VIN as 815431 and notes “Antique Vehicle” under the Type of Operation section.

Spam prevention question (must be answered):
The father of jokes about warm beer and smoke escaping from wires is Joseph Lucas. Lucas died of typhoid after drinking infected water in Naples in 1902.

What disease did Lucas succumb to?
