Based on the chassis and running gear of a right-hand drive 1955 Jaguar XK140 Fixed Head Coupe (or so the quoted identification numbers would imply), this unusual four-seater open tourer was created in the early 1980s by a Mr W.F. Hodge. Conscious no doubt that his donor car lacked rear legroom, he chose to stretch its box-section chassis by approximately twelve inches. However, this modification apart, he seems to have carried over much of the rest of the running gear unaltered. Thus, this intriguing Special is powered by a 3.4 litre dohc straight-six mated to four-speed plus overdrive manual transmission and boasts both independent front suspension and rack and pinion steering. Benefiting from a full length hood and tonneau cover, its styling is somewhat reminiscent of a 1930s Railton or Bentley MKVI Special.
Finished in red with tan vinyl upholstery, it is described by the vendor as variously being in good (electrical equipment, paintwork), very good (bodywork, gearbox, wheels / tyres) or excellent (chassis, engine) condition. Though, he only considers the interior trim to be fair. Apparently accompanied by a good number of old MOT certificates, it is believed but not warranted to have covered 79,000 miles. Sporting a side-mounted spare wheel and rear luggage grid, it is offered for sale with history file (photo copy of the original logbook, chassis restoration / conversion invoice, correspondence with W.F. Hodge etc), MOT certificate current until September 2006 and historic class (free) road tax until August 2006.

Gentlemen, I am looking for this car.
Does anybody know where it went after the auction in 2005?
Any information on its whereabouts would be highly appreciated.
