'OSU 167' was originally manufactured in 1958 and exported to South Africa. It was repatriated back to the UK in 1989 and on its return to the UK the bodywork was restored to its current colour of Gun Metal Grey metallic. Having spent the majority of its life in a warmer climate, the car required minimal repair as the body was found to be in good overall condition. 'OSU 167' has been in its current owner's possession since 2006 and during that time he has set about making sensible upgrades. These include: power steering, stainless exhaust system, Koni shock absorbers, 3.8 S rear springs, Cooper Craft brakes, Harvey Bailey front anti roll bar, Facet fuel pump, Tremec 5-speed gearbox, bucket seat conversion re-trimmed in Cranberry hide, Mota Lita steering wheel, aluminium radiator cowl and electronic ignition. The improvements made have resulted in a car that drives extremely well and has proved to be very reliable.

Last month it had a recommission for a drive from Suffolk to Coventry which it did in style with no issues.

18th Jul, 2026 The MPC North July 2026 Car Auction

    Lot 239

1958 Jaguar XK150 Fixed Head Coupe

A tastefully upgraded XK150, offering classic style with enhanced performance and modern usability

    Estimate £34,000 - £38,000

    Registration: OSU 167

    Chassis: S824182DN

    Odometer: 54,000

    Transmission: Manual

    MOT: May 2027

Presented in right-hand drive and finished in an understated Gun Metal Grey metallic, this example offers the rare advantage of having spent its formative years in South Africa, where the dry climate has clearly played a role in its well-preserved condition.

Originally built in 1958 and exported shortly thereafter, it remained abroad for several decades before returning to the UK in 1989. Upon its arrival back on home soil, it was treated to a sympathetic restoration, with the bodywork refinished to its current elegant standard.

In the years since, this XK150 has evolved into a highly usable and rewarding driver’s car, benefitting from a series of carefully selected upgrades designed to enhance the experience behind the wheel without detracting from its period charm. Most notably, the addition of a Tremec five-speed manual gearbox significantly improves cruising refinement and flexibility, making it far better suited to modern roads. Complementing this is the inclusion of power-assisted steering, which transforms low-speed manoeuvrability and overall ease of use.

On the road, the XK feels composed and assured thanks to uprated suspension components, including Koni dampers and revised rear springs derived from the 3.8 S-type, while a Harvey Bailey front anti-roll bar further sharpens handling characteristics. Braking performance has been addressed with the installation of a Cooper Craft system, providing confidence-inspiring stopping power to match the performance. A stainless steel exhaust system not only ensures durability but also delivers a suitably refined yet purposeful soundtrack.

Mechanical reliability and efficiency have also been prioritised, with upgrades such as electronic ignition, a Facet electric fuel pump, and an aluminium radiator cowl all contributing to more dependable and consistent running. These enhancements make the Jaguar particularly well suited to regular use, whether for touring or weekend enjoyment.

Inside, the cabin offers a pleasing blend of classic style and subtle enhancement. The bucket seats have been retrimmed in rich Cranberry hide, creating a warm and inviting environment that contrasts beautifully with the exterior finish. A Mota-Lita steering wheel provides the finishing touch, reinforcing the driver-focused character while remaining entirely in keeping with its era.

The Jaguar is supplied with a V5C registration document and a copy of its Jaguar Heritage Certificate.

Altogether, this is not simply a well-presented example of Jaguar’s ultimate XK, but one that has been intelligently developed to meet the expectations of modern driving. For the enthusiast seeking a classic that can be used with confidence and enjoyed without compromise, it represents a particularly compelling opportunity.
